Patriotic Santa Miniature

The Patriotic Santa first appeared in America during the Civil War of the 1860s. He was a popular figure, representing the spirit of Christmas, accepted and loved by both the North and South. The press was not above using him as a propaganda figure, dressing him in patriotic stars and stripes and making him the benefactor of the Union soldier. President Lincoln observed that this Santa was the North's "best recruiting sergeant." Because the North still had publishing resources during the war, it spread the Patriotic Santa myth through its newspapers, while the South, without publishing resources, kept Santa alive through oral tradition. This Patriotic Santa is on the side of all Americans. He carries a sack full of traditional Christmas toys and wrapped gifts, and a holiday tree is strapped to his back. His costume is red, white and blue with bright stars adorning his vest, hat and bag. As he raises the American flag, he symbolizes the hopes and dreams of all of the people of this great country, the United States of America. Pipka’s Patriotic Santa is here to celebrate America’s 225th birthday! This 3" miniature Patriotic Santa was RETIRED in 2003. A total of 3,120 pieces was produced. Limited to quantities on hand.
